The Texas Public Utility Commission and ERCOT are considering
multiple new electric transmission projects, with each project consisting of multiple
transmission lines.  Several of those projects include higher-voltage transmission lines
than are currently in operation anywhere in Texas. One potential project includes an
unprecedented state-wide “loop” that would serve as a super-transmission system,
supplying electricity at a bulk voltage of 765 kV! This infrastructure buildout is
reminiscent of the Trans Texas Corridor, at least for some of us who are getting
older than we’d like to admit…..Zach Brady will bring you the latest details available on
these projects and an update on the PUC process that could lead to their permitting and
construction.
